Hemingway Luxury Car Hire always tries to give clients the news of new and exciting restaurants in the cities where we deliver and collect luxury cars and Bo London is a new find for us and so hope that you find time to visit.
Bo London is a fine dining Chinese restaurant, located in between Regents Street and Mayfair. Two Michelin starred Bo Hong Kong brought its concept to London, opening late last year, already earning its own Michelin star and it’s clear to see why.
An upmarket clientele, this cosy, intimate restaurant is all modern minimalism. At the back stood an open plan kitchen prepping area. You can watch the chefs apply finishing garnishes, a respectful nod to traditional Hong Kong restaurants, where the diners surround exposed cheffing stations. Their house cocktail the Bai Jui, translates to white alcohol, with a 52% Chinese wheat whiskey. Served in a metal pronged king cup traditionally favoured by the Chinese royal family of yesteryear. Such care and attention put not just into the menu but the crockery, cutlery and even the teacups were designed by the chef.
(Picture: Bo London)The chef Alvin Leung merges together classic dishes with a modernised twist, he names X-treme Chinese. Taster menus of different sizes are on offer including an ‘Ode To Great Britain’, I went big for their fourteen course chef’s menu. All served on a granite ‘stage’ it kicked off with an edible ’white garden’. A delightfully light spring onion and avocado mouse, with soil made of mushroom crumbs and sprinkled enoki and ginger powder. Other favourites included a bed and breakfast – a gold leaf topped jasmine smoked quail egg that had the perfectly runny yolk centre nestled in a crispy taro nest, which is meant to represent family and unity.
(Picture: Bo London)The next dish of cured mackerel, named cloud, was presented with a rose scented mist. With a grey foam of Shoa Xing vinegar, a nod to British weather and how our sky is often grey. Three tomatoes included a tomato marshmallow with a surprise runny centre of green onion oil. The hawthorn dish played with conventions, a palette cleansing chilli tea and mandarin sorbet, with swirls of dry ice in the air created by pouring over individual neon lit test tubes. The waiter surprised me towards the end by delivering an extra bonus course, sex on the beach. A comical spin on the dish’s title, it had a condensed milk filled jelly laying over a beach of crushed biscuits and honeycomb.
(Picture: Bo London)To cap off the feast, was a cage decorated with petit dim sum – jellies flavoured with kaffir lime and chilli and mango, rose and lychee macaroons, salted caramel chocolates and spotted dick dumplings with centres of duck yolk custard and raisins. Perfect for an opulent dinner to round off a long day of Christmas shopping, this is Chinese gastronomy at its best.
Did you ever collect model cars as a kid? Maybe you still do. Either way, there was always great joy in getting your hands on the latest model, whether to give it a blast around your parents’ lounge or to store in an immaculately-presented display cabinet.
Sometimes it was frustrating though, particularly if your own favorite car wasn’t represented by any top model company or proved impossible to get hold of. Now, the wonders of 3D printing can make any model car accessible-including an officially-sanctioned Porsche Cayman.
Okay, so Porsche models have never been that hard to find, and the new Cayman is no exception. But what better way to personalize your own Cayman than by printing it out at home? As the video shows, Porsche has released 3D printing data to allow you to replicate the Cayman’s form in your own home. Just how big you print it presumably depends on how big your own 3D printer will allow, but the model looks remarkably accurate.
If you’re an old hand with a painting kit there’s the potential to make it look even better, though the finished form does look like it requires some sculpting for the full effect-the newly-finished model appears to need its wheel wells cutting out and a little detailed attention here and there to pick out some of the Cayman’s details.
If you’re handy with a computer the results could be even more interesting- once you’ve got a Cayman to work on a Boxster isn’t far behind, while there’s surely the potential for race cars, shooting brakes and all manner of other designs from skilled coders.
To get the Cayman plans just head to the relevant Porsche page and download the Zip file.
And if you create anything interesting, be sure to throw in the #3DCayman tag on social media sites.
A blurry cellphone video just captured in London shows a police BMW 5 Series sedan crashed into a Ferrari 458 Spider. According to the guy who uploaded the clip, the police was trying to make a u-turn on the street and rear-ended the yellow Ferrari, which was trying to park.
Regardless, we have a funny clip of a police car with the lights flashing, wedged into the rear quarters of a Ferrari. I wouldn’t want to be the guy who has to pay the repairs for this one. That will never buff out!

We´re pleased to let you know that Tax The Rich is at it again. We thought we would share a moment of gratuitous Ferrari appreciation.
The group that loves to use supercars for something other than garage decoration has already had its way with a Ferrari Enzo, 288 GTO, and a pair of F50s. Its latest video features Ferrari’s supercar of the 1990s dancing solo.
In this video, a red F50 drifts and skids around the countryside, the driver pulling some moves most supercar owners wouldn’t dare attempt. The whole thing was filmed with a high-speed camera, so there’s plenty of slow-motion goodness.
Anyone who saw the last season of Top Gear will be familiar with this filming style, which breaks down the action of a car drifting around a corner into what appears to be a series of still images edited together.
At one point, the F50 even skids through the shot with its brakes fully locked; a puff of tire smoke from the rear wheels is the only indication that this isn’t a bit of editing trickery.
The F50 was probably the least-loved of Ferrari’s flagship supercars. Sandwiched between the paradigm-shifting F40 and Enzo, it just doesn’t have as much historical importance. The bulbous 1990s styling doesn’t help matters, either.
Still, with a limited production run of just 349 units and an F1-derived 4.7-liter, 520-horsepower V12 in the engine bay, the F50 is highly collectible. With an estimated 0 to 62 mph time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of around 202 mph, it’s no slouch either.
It also looks pretty good in slo-mo. Put it on full screen and turn up the volume.
As always, it’s great to see a supercar actually being driven instead of just sitting under a car cover waiting to be auctioned off.
Matt Farah is given a Lamborghini Aventador to drive to Vegas and in this YouTube clip answers many questions we are asked about driving this car for long distances.
Matt asks “What could be the perfect car to ride you to a major tuning show?” One that costs at least half-million dollar of course! Enter in the Lamborghini Aventador used by Matt Farah on his 700-mile road trip.
With a 6.5-liter, V-12 engine that delivers a total of 700 horsepower at 8,250 rpm and 509 pound-feet of torque at 5,500 rpm in tow, the Aventador is able to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and up to a top speed of 217 mph. Comfort, on the other hand, is not part of the Aventador package, according to Farah.
With an average fuel consumption of 14 mpg, it means that Matt needed at least 50 gallons of gas for this trip, and with an average of $3.20 per gallon, he had to pay $160 to get to LA. That number may have been slightly lower, had Farah kept his cool and not maxed out the V-12 at every opportunity. Then again, could we really resist the temptation to hear that sweet V-12 scream at us? We highly doubt it.
Check out the video to see if Matt finds the Aventador the right car for such a long journey!
Ronaldo has shown a keen interest in the worlds best cars and we thought we would give you a potted history right here. Any of the cars you see are available to be rented through Hemingway Luxury Car Hire anywhere in Europe.
Ronaldo in 2008 arriving on the red carpet at an award ceremony in the Audi Q7 SUV. Even by luxury 4×4 standards, the Q7 is a big hunk of car. It’s over five metres long and tips the scales at over 2,200kg in its most slimline guise.
Audi’s mighty RS6 is a fire-breathing monster amongst sensible estate cars. It packs a twin-turbo V10 engine with over 570bhp. The sprint to 62mph takes 4.6 seconds and Audi asked customers for nearly £80,000 for the privilege of scaring themselves, four passengers and a flat-pack wardrobe witless.
This is Ronaldo in his silver RS6 while house-hunting in Spain in 2009. He’s in good company: both messrs Beckham & Rooney have been seen in these uber-estates recently.
The R8 is the must-have supercar of the season so few surprises that Ronaldo has owned one.
Bentley’s Continental GT has carved out a reputation as a favourite runabout for well-heeled soccer stars and Cristiano seems to have fallen for its charms. This is the man himself in 2007 driving the convertible GTC model.
Rumour has it that Ronaldo has owned a number of Porsche Cayennes including this eyeball-shattering monstrosity by Porsche tuner Techart. Finished in white and wearing a bold bodykit and wild 22-inch wheels, it could rocket to 62mph in 5.6 seconds and sold for £35k recently.
BMW’s M6 has a 500bhp V10 engine and a £90,000 price tag but compared to the super-exclusive hypercars in Cristiano Ronaldo’s collection it actually looks quite modest. Ronaldo is pictured here in August 2006 leaving a cafe in Alderley Edge, Cheshire. He’d recently returned to train with Manchester United after the 2006 World Cup, in which a frank discussion with fellow Man Utd player Wayne Rooney during the England v Portugal match put him on both front and back pages.
Bentley GTC Speed with a 600bhp W12 twin-turbo engine, a top speed in excess of 200mph and four-wheel drive, this is the perfect car to show off in. Ronaldo owned this one before selling it for around £114,000 in 2009.
Ronaldo signed for Real Madrid in 2009, leaving Manchester United after 196 appearances and 84 goals. He’s pictured here getting into his £80,000 black Audi RS6 in that same year.
This is Cristiano filming a commercial in Madrid in March 2011. He’s at the wheel of a Maserati GranCabrio, the drop-top version of Maserati’s gorgeous GranTurismo coupé. The car costs £98,000 and is powered by a 434bhp V8 engine.
Hold the footballer jokes please, because Cristiano really did buy a Porsche 911 Cabriolet before selling it for around £70,000 in 2009. Surprise, surprise, but it was finished in proper footballer spec, with bling 19-inch Turbo alloys, a tiptronic auto box and, of course, that canvas roof.
Rumour has it that Cristiano’s fleet of automotive exotica has featured Aston Martin’s elegant grand tourer. The £130,000 asking price certainly puts it in his exclusive ball park and the 470bhp V12 engine can see it to 60mph in 4.6s.
This is Cristiano in 2007 riding aboard a modified Porsche Cayenne being driven into the Manchester United training ground by a friend. In high-performance Turbo form, the Cayenne turns in fearsome performance thanks to its V8 engine packing close to 500bhp.
Sometimes global football superstars need a break from their exotic cars and like to get behind the wheel of something less plush. Here’s Ronaldo ‘slumming it’ with a Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sports Coupé while on holiday in Madeira in 2007.
Most of us would feel privileged to drive the tidily-styled little Mercedes coupe but with prices kicking off at under £20,000, it was hardly in the same league as Ronaldo’s other motors. The Sport Coupé was facelifted and rebadged as the CLC in 2008.
The long wheelbase Audi A8 is a fine way to travel, particularly if you’ve the means to pay a driver and sit out the journey in the roomy rear seats. Cristiano is looking suitably refreshed after a ride in the extended Audi in this December 2009 picture.
Proving to have something of a penchant for convertibles, Ronaldo dropped more than three hundred thousand big ones on the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé – probably the most regal drop-top you can buy. >p Ronaldo raced a Bugatti Veyron on foot – and beat it – for a TV advert and was apparently so impressed with the 253mph Bugatti that he placed an order for one.
Get ready to spend the next year wishing Maserati a happy birthday–as the Italian automaker enters its hundredth year in business this December. The company was officially founded on December 1, 1914, starting operations on December 14, 1914. That makes December 2013 the start of its hundredth year, and for the next twelve months, the historic marque will host celebrations all around the world.
There’s plenty to celebrate: Maserati’s history is long and illustrious, even when compared to fellow domestic marques like Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Lamborghini. The firm produced its first car, the Tipo 26, in 1926. It took its first victory that year in the Targa Florio, the first of many for the marque in virtually every major racing event. Maserati has taken two Indy 500 victories, 9 wins in Formula 1, and the 1957 F1 World Championship at the hands of Juan Manuel Fangio. It produced its first passenger car in 1947, and since then Maserati has also been known for beautiful luxury sports cars and sedans–something that continues to this day.
A series of activities is planned to celebrate the centenary, and all will be held under a new centennial logo. It features the familiar Maserati Trident–inspired by the Neptune fountain in the center of Maserati’s home city, Bologna–the Maserati text, and the 1914 and 2014 numerals. Maserati has also set up a website–maserati100.com–to keep owners, fans and collectors informed of the year’s festivities.
The biggest event will be an official Maserati gathering in Modena from September 19-21, 2014. As many as 250 Maserati models from all over the world are expected to descend on the town, with driving routes on local roads and even track sessions available. If need to rent a Maserati through Hemingway for the event make sure you contact us now so that we can reserve the Maserati of your choice. The Museo Casa Enzo Ferrari in Modena will also host a series of historic models, and this Friday, Maserati will be presented with a special centennial book to celebrate its last 100 years.
Want to keep up with all of this on Twitter? There’s even an official #Maserati100 hashtag. Here’s to the next 100 years.
